PMVA Training
Prevention & Management of Violence & Aggression (PMVA) is the original NHS-endorsed framework, still regarded as one of the most robust and legally defensible approaches to physical intervention.
What we cover:
De-escalation & communication under pressure
Safe holding, escorting & disengagement techniques
The legal framework (necessity, proportionality, Human Rights Act)
Trauma-informed practice & risk reduction
Reporting, recording & post-incident review
Course options:
Initial training: 2–3 days
Annual refresher: 1 day
Bespoke modules adapted to your service
Outcome: Staff can act safely, lawfully, and confidently, with techniques that are justified, proportionate, and the least restrictive.
Mechanical Restraint Training (Handcuffs/Speedcuffs)
For higher-risk services such as secure transport or safeguarding roles, we deliver professional training in the safe and lawful use of mechanical restraints.
What we cover:
Correct application & removal of handcuffs/speedcuffs
Dynamic risk assessment & decision-making
Legal use of force & evidencing necessity
Team roles, communication & practical scenarios
Documentation, reporting & aftercare
